Synopsis
The martyrdom of physician Latif in Jerusalem exposes the Crusaders' moral decay and sparks political turmoil within the palace, where young King Baldwin IV lacks real authority, leaving power in the hands of his stepmother, Maria Komnenos. As tensions rise, figures like Balian of Ibelin and William of Tyre seek freedom after being imprisoned for Latif's murder, while Sybilla faces difficult choices, including Guy de Lusignan's proposal to save Balian. Meanwhile, Egyptian Sultan Saladin decries the Crusaders' corruption and advances his own strategies, paralleled by Gümüştekin’s ruthless quest for dominance in Damascus. The shifting power dynamics and alliances raise critical questions about the future of both cities.
